Carolina Panthers CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers are going on the road this weekend for the National Football Conference championship final in Philadelphia, but on Friday the team joined with Bank of America to announce a whole new kind of "home field advantage."

Bank of America and the Panthers announced that they have extended the bank's existing sponsorship agreement as the official financial services company of the Carolina Panthers. For the next 20 years, starting next season, the team's home field in uptown Charlotte will be named for Bank of America.

"We're proud to have been associated with the Carolina Panthers from the very beginning," said Kenneth D. Lewis, Chairman and CEO of Bank of America.

"This agreement takes Bank of America's long association with the Panthers to a higher level, just as the team is setting new standards with its performance in the NFL playoffs.

"I know people in Charlotte and the Carolinas are proud of our team, and I hope our customers and associates throughout this area will feel an extra measure of pride and 'home field advantage' every time they see Bank of America Stadium."

Panthers' owner Jerry Richardson also stressed the long relationship between his team and the bank, already the official financial services company of the Panthers.

"Bank of America was instrumental in bringing the NFL to the Carolinas," he said. "Our success this year makes this a perfect time to announce the further strengthening of the relationship between our 'home team' and its 'home town bank.'"

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Lewis and team president Mark Richardson jointly unveiled a composite photo of the stadium facade, showing a large Bank of America logo.

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory said the announcement was very welcome as "an expression of the faith and confidence Bank of America has, not only in our football team, but in our community."

Bank of America, headquartered in Charlotte, is one of the world's largest financial institutions, serving individual consumers, small businesses and large corporations and institutions with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk management products and services.

Bank of America Corporation stock (ticker: BAC) is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
