Mooresville/Lake Norman Relay For Life coupon book to benefit Am. Cancer Society
Posted: 02-08-2006 :

Mooresville, N.C. – The 2006 Mooresville/Lake Norman Relay for Life is selling coupon books to local restaurants and businesses to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The books sell for $10 and one coupon alone can recoup expenditure. The majority of the businesses are located in the Mooresville/Lake Norman area, with a few in the Myrtle Beach area.

“We are grateful to The Community Service Book Company for offering this opportunity to us,” said co-chair Jill Lowe. “We are lucky to have companies out there that are willing to work with non-profits to help us raise funds for a good cause.”

Anyone interested in purchasing a coupon book can contact a member of the Relay planning committee or attend one of the committee meetings. The Relay Committee meets again February 21 at 7 p.m. at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville.

“We still have room for good people in our planning committee,” adds Brenda Harvey, co-chair for the Relay. “We try to make our meetings as much fun as possible and hope to make this year’s Relay the best yet!”

The Mooresville/Lake Norman Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for research and local programs of the American Cancer Society. This year’s “Cirque du Relay”, teams of people will gather at Lake Norman High School and take turns walking laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Games, activities, food and entertainment are provided for the community to enjoy as well.

Anyone interested in participating in the 2006 Mooresville/Lake Norman Relay for Life Friday, April 28, at Lake Norman High School Football Stadium or attending the next committee meeting February 21 at 7 p.m. at Williamson Chapel UMC can contact Jill Lowe (704) 663-0799, e-mail: jillo1013@alltel.net, or Brenda Harvey (704) 892-0926, brharvey@adelphia.net.
