Raleigh, NC -- Author Eleanor Reid (E.R. Reid), from Raleigh, North Carolina, is the talk of the town in the Big Apple. Her article “After Divorce, Surviving the Holidays” is featured in a column for single parents in the November issue of Big Apple Parent magazine in New York. The article contains advice for parents who may be facing their first holiday after a divorce. Big Apple Parent Magazine was the winner of the 2005 Gold Award for editorial design by Parenting Publications of America.

For many this could be the first holiday without their former spouse or their children. Reid’s article sheds light on how difficult divorce can be and offers advice on how to best deal with situations that can arise.

Reid experienced this herself. This mother of two has learned some valuable lessons about what to do and not to do to make the change in traditions favorable for everyone involved. “Divorce is difficult for anyone; but when children are involved, things can be especially difficult during the holidays,” says Reid. “The key thing to remember is that we divorced our spouses, but not our children. We need to offer our children love and support through the whole ordeal just as we need to seek out love and support from our family and friends.”

Eleanor Reid is a corporate strategist in Raleigh and must daily see things from a client perspective. In her article, she states that it is best if divorced parents try to view family situations from a child’s perspective. In her most recent book, STOP My Childhood From Drowning! 39 Lessons from a Child Experiencing Divorce, Reid does just that. She presents readers with multiple scenarios from a child’s perspective and offers solutions on how to deal with each one.
