CEC Announces Major Marketing Event-To Have or Have Not
Posted: 01-03-2005 :

Wilmington, NC – Only 1 in 10 entrepreneurial start-up companies succeed in attracting angel investment; a mere1 in 1,000 garner venture capital in a subsequent funding round. How do successful entrepreneurs beat those odds? They market themselves, their ideas, and their firms better than all the rest. On January 11, 2005, at 5:30 p.m. at the Cape Fear Country Club, Grace W. Ueng, president of the Savvy Marketing Group, will help local business leaders become better marketers. She'll explain how they can improve their marketing plans, share strategies she's used in helping five entrepreneurial ventures generate over $1 billion in investor returns, and provide suggestions on how to stand out in the highly competitive entrepreneurial marketplace.

Ms. Ueng has been helping companies grow for nearly two decades. She has served on executive teams as vice president of marketing for visionary RTP start-ups—SmartPath (acquired by DoubleClick), OpenSite Technologies (sold to Siebel Systems), and TogetherSoft (acquired by Borland). She's an expert in business development, branding, and marketing programs.

Brian McMerty, the CEC’s vice president for communications, is excited about the event: “It’s not every day that one of North Carolina’s first-tier marketing experts comes to Wilmington to share ideas, answer tough questions, and give local entrepreneurs a more competitive edge. We’re all looking forward to Grace’s talk on Successful Ventures: Key Marketing Lessons for Your Business. I’m inviting friends, clients, and customers alike. Grace Ueng’s presentation is going to be a post-holiday present I know they’ll all enjoy.”

After the one-hour session, there will be a reception, which will provide a superb networking opportunity for southeastern North Carolina entrepreneurs who have ideas and are looking for ways to develop them.

The Coastal Entrepreneurial Council has served as southeastern North Carolina’s strongest advocate for entrepreneurship since 1995. To register for an evening with Grace Ueng, click here or visit www.cec-nc.org. The event is free for CEC members. It costs $50 for nonmembers and $25 for students.
