Expert's Corner: Brooks Savage
CEO of The Executive Staffing Group (ESG)

Brooks Savage is CEO of The Executive Staffing Group (ESG), an Inc. 500 firm with 20 years of business and community partnerships, specializing in strategic staffing, human resources, payroll services, and training. After taking the helm of ESG in 1994, Brooks has steered ESG to steady growth over the years, bringing on many new accounts and becoming a strategic partner to the firm's clients.

Under Brooks' leadership, ESG has been rated one of the Triangle's Fast 50 by the Triangle Business Journal, ranked one of the 17 “Hottest Businesses” by Entrepreneur magazine, named Cary's “Small Business of the Year” and designated as a “Blue Chip Enterprise.”

Prior to ESG, Brooks headed sales and operations at the janitorial business owned by his father. Brooks' backbone is sales, and he uses best practices principles and follow-through to manage his staff at ESG. To communicate his company’s mission, vision for the future and how each employee fits into that plan, Brooks holds regular staff meetings where he reviews with employees how everyone’s efforts affect the growth of the company. Brooks believes it is crucial to know his employees personally, and he has designed a work environment that maximizes each person's professional potential.

Brooks and his staff at ESG are dedicated to the eradication of cancer and each year volunteer their time and effort to the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, which supports the V Foundation for Cancer Research founded by Jim Valvano. Jim was a successful basketball coach and an award-winning commentator at ABC and ESPN who advocated for the fight against cancer in the final 10 months of his life. Through ESG, Brooks sponsors charity and business-to-business events as a way of giving back to the community, and he has supported such organizations as the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, the Food Bank of North Carolina, Cary Visual Arts, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the United Way.

Professional organizations with which Brooks has been involved include Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders, TEC International, the world’s largest organization of chief executives and sits on the Board of Directors of the Temporary Services Insurance, Ltd. A native of Cary, North Carolina, Brooks attended Louisburg College and North Carolina State University. He resides in Fuquay-Varina.
