Greensboro College Teams with National Web Project
Posted: 10-01-2007 : GREENSBORO, N.C.

Greensboro, N.C. - Greensboro College is one of over 550 independent colleges and universities nationwide that is now linked to the University and College Accountability Network (U-CAN).

This is an in-depth, user-friendly, online tool recently launched that will make it easier for prospective students and families to choose the right higher education institution based on their needs.

The site was created by the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in response to concerns that there has been too much reliance on rankings by publications such as U.S. News and World Report. Also, federal education officials and members of Congress have encouraged schools to provide better resources to the public.

With U-CAN students and families now have free online access to objective and measurable data graphically displayed in a concise two-page profile. Each profile also contains a "What makes us special?" link directly to the institution's Web site.

The profiles are presented in a common format making it easier to evaluate the data. Information is available on academics, admissions, costs, enrollment, financial aid, student life, student housing and campus safety.

Greensboro College President Craven Williams says, "This program allows students to consider objective facts about potential college choices, not uninformed opinions and hearsay."

Greensboro College's profile, along with hundreds of other private colleges and universities, is accessible for free at http://members.ucan-network.org/gborocollege. The U-CAN link is also available from Greensboro College's Web site at http://www.gborocollege.edu, click on Admissions or Adult and Graduate Students links.
