Golf Resort Along North Carolina Coast To Host Northeast Conference Men’s Golf Championship May 4 -6

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. — Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center will be the site of the Northeast Conference Men’s Golf Championship Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6, 2007. The tournament, which will be played on Sea Trail’s Byrd Course, will feature eleven college and university teams including Central Connecticut State University, Fairleigh Dickinson University (N.J.), Long Island University (N.Y.), Monmouth University (N.J.), Mount St. Mary's University (Md.), Quinnipiac University (Conn.), Robert Morris University (Penn.), Sacred Heart University (Conn.), St. Francis College (N.Y.), Saint Francis University (Penn.), and Wagner College (N.Y.).

In selecting Sea Trail’s Byrd course as the venue for the 2007 Men’s Championship, the Northeast Conference (NEC) selected one of the finest courses along Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand. The par 72 layout features undulating, Bent grass greens and is rated at four stars (“Outstanding: Plan Your Next Vacation Around It”) by Golf Digest’s Places To Play. Recently, the Byrd Course was profiled in the prestigious Zagat® survey of America’s Top Golf Courses where more than 1,000 golfers voted, adding comments such as “put it on your list if you’re going to Myrtle Beach,” and the staff “treats everyone like family.”

The NEC is a NCAA Division I athletic conference that is competitive both regionally and nationally. The Conference has a five-state geographic footprint with access to major media markets such as New York City, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Hartford.
