RALEIGH, N.C. – Friends of Dorothea Dix Park (FDDP) announces a new, updated web page, www.dixpark.org, for the public to learn about the group’s vision for a destination park in the capital city of Raleigh. The Web site offers photos of the land, details and renderings of the park plan, a list of member organizations and a way to join and contribute to the organization.

“Our new web page supports our efforts to establish a world-class destination park on the Dorothea Dix Campus because it is the right thing to do for your children, your economic vitality and your quality of life,” said Jay Spain, president of Friends of Dorothea Dix Park.

The site was updated with many more details, including maps, FAQ’s and recent news articles about the proposed park plan in response to an increased demand for information. Visitors to dixpark.org will find detailed maps of the park plan, which was designed by world-renowned architect John Hoal who also designed Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo. Also on the Web site is a plan for funding the destination park, prepared by finance attorney Greg Hummel.

The site incorporates new technologies and includes an informative video of several prominent North Carolinians from across the state speaking out for the need and benefits of a destination park. The site will soon include an online petition for supporters to sign and post comments to.

“In addition to the website, we are equally excited about the grassroots efforts springing up to support our mission with yard signs and bumper stickers. It is great to see people across the state recognizing that this park will benefit everyone – our children for generations to come, our economic stability and our overall quality of life.”

Friends of Dorothea Dix Park (FDDP), founded in 2004, is a 501(c)3 organization made up of thousands of individuals and more than 30 member organizations whose mission is to preserve the Dorothea Dix Campus as a world-class destination park.
