Ward Drug Company of Nashville Launches Free Antibiotic Program

Nashville, NC -- Ward Drug Company of Nashville announced it is launching a free antibiotics program for the benefit of the entire community. “Ward Drug Pharmacy has always strived to bring patient care to a higher level. With our free antibiotic program, everyone will now have access to the medications they need to get well, regardless of whether or not they have insurance coverage,” said Gary Glisson, RPh and owner. “There are NO STRINGS ATTACHED to this program. This program covers some of the most widely prescribed antibiotics with a special emphasis on the antibiotics most often used by children.
The antibiotics covered under this program include: Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, PenicillinVK, Erythromycin, Cephalexin and Ciprofloxacin. This group represents at least one antibiotic from each of the major antibiotic drug classifications.
Studies at UCLA have found that, “High medication costs are strongly associated with medication under use… and that patients may not fill a new prescription based on cost.” “Hopefully from this point forward, that won’t be a problem to any members of our community,” said Mr. Glisson. Properly prescribed by doctors, antibiotics attack the cause of bacterial infection and also help prevent the spread of illness.
