Embrace Pet Insurance CEO, Laura Bennett, joins SafeGuard Guaranty Board of Directors

Apex, NC -- SafeGuard Guaranty Corporation, soon to be the first company in the world to offer Marriage Assurancesm, today announced that Laura Bennett, Co-founder and CEO of Embrace Pet Insurance has joined SafeGuard Guaranty’s Board of Directors. SafeGuard’s ground breaking insurance based offering is focused on ensuring the financial wellbeing of successful marriages in the form of wealth creation and the prevention of the financial devastation so often caused by divorce.

Ms. Bennett brings a wealth of insurance industry knowledge to the SafeGuard executive team, both domestic and international, as well as her significant actuarial expertise and niche market startup experience with Embrace. Bennett has over 17 years of insurance industry experience, including her 5 years working at Embrace. In the past she has worked for The Canada Life Assurance Company in Toronto, Canada, in a number of different leadership roles in asset-liability management, strategic planning, and business development, and several years working in the Dublin, Ireland office. Prior to launching Embrace, Ms. Bennett was the CFO of CLAC’s individual life and health businesses, developing that role through the company’s demutualization.

Ms. Bennett holds an honors mathematics degree from the University of Western Ontario (Canada), is an actuary (FSA), and holds the chartered financial analyst designation (CFA). In 2003, Bennett received her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, where she graduated as a Palmer Scholar and Siebel Scholar. She was also awarded by her peers The Class of 2001 Leadership Award, presented to the student in the graduating MBA class who most exemplifies the spirit of Wharton in terms of leadership, teamwork, scholarship, and service. She majored in Strategic and Entrepreneurship Management.

Bennett, who grew up in England and Scotland, emigrated to Canada with her parents and later moved to the US in 2001, lives with her husband, two daughters and two cats in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
