WakeMed Faculty Physicians Introduces New GI Practice

RALEIGH, N.C. – WakeMed Faculty Physicians, WakeMed Health & Hospitals’ 100 + physician practice, announces the addition of three gastroenterologists and the establishment of a new Gastroenterology practice.

Physicians joining the group include:

Adeyemi Lawal, MD is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. His clinical interests include gastrointestinal motility disorders, GERD, endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.

Gourisankar Degala, MD is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in gastroenterology. His clinical interests include therapeutic endoscopy and inflammatory bowel diseases.

Kerry Whitt, MD is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. His clinical interests include ERCP, general hepatology and biliary tract disease.

This new practice is focused on serving Raleigh Campus patients who need an emergent or routine inpatient gastrointestinal consultation, diagnostic and/or interventional procedures and ongoing outpatient management. The practice’s three gastroenterologists can provide a broad range of services in both inpatient and outpatient areas. They have training and expertise in esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, luminal stenting, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and capsule endoscopy.
