Posted: 02-17-2009 : JACKSONVILLE N.C.
JACKSONVILLE N.C. – Billy Sewell, president and CEO of Platinum Corral, a multi-unit franchise operator of Golden Corral Grill/Buffet Restaurants, has announced the purchase of a 3.8-acre site located at 7701 N. Tryon St. in Charlotte, N.C. The site, which adjoins a newly planned WalMart, will be the location for a 450-seat Golden Corral Buffet and Grill scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The new restaurant will offer traditional Golden Corral stations and buffets including the bakery, salad bar and meats, as well as new features such as a full-service bread station with six new types of bread, a self-service beverage station where guests can choose bottle or fountain beverages upon entry, and action-themed cooking where foods are prepared in view of the guest. This Charlotte location will also offer a full-service breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 to 11 a.m.
Sewell started Platinum Corral in 1996 with the purchase of two Golden Corral restaurants. He now owns 22 restaurants in North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio, employing more than 1,500 people, with combined annual sales topping $70 million.
“I am excited to expand the Platinum Corral presence into Charlotte. Not only are we dedicated to providing the highest quality food at reasonable prices but we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve,” said Sewell. “Platinum Corral restaurants have raised $80,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network to benefit local children’s hospitals, provided free meals for more than 18,000 active duty and retired military during Golden Corral’s nationwide Military Appreciation Night and donated 75,000 free meals to elementary school children for awards and achievements. I am proud to get the Charlotte community involved in these efforts.”
