The North Carolina Technology Association Expands Membership Reach to CIOs and IT Professionals
Posted: 05-05-2009 : RALEIGH, N.C.

Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), the primary voice of the technology industry in North Carolina, today announced the addition of a new membership category targeted to companies and organizations outside the traditional IT sector (biotech, retail, health services, consumer goods, life sciences and automotive industries, among others). This new “IT Professionals” category will give these companies the opportunity to connect their IT leadership and staff to NCTA’s activities and programs.

The success of NCTA’s CIO Connection program, a quarterly forum and peer group for CIOs, led the organization to expand its membership outside of the technology and professional services industries. The program’s attendees became increasingly interested in joining NCTA to be a part of a local peer group and engage in professional development opportunities.

“As a CIO and new member of NCTA, I have found immense value in the programming and content NCTA provides,” said Chuck Musciano, Vice President and CIO at Martin Marietta Materials. “These unmatched opportunities give CIOs the ability to establish peer relationships, exchange ideas and make a difference within our state’s technology community.”

NCTA offers its members access to business leaders and decision makers through premier networking and educational events, a voice in the state legislature and Washington, D.C., discounts on business and technology products and services. Members also have access to IT job market statistics and online resources including a job board for posting IT jobs and connecting with potential employees.

“We feel it is important to expand our membership to help serve North Carolina professionals who want to build upon their knowledge and peer network,” said Brooks Raiford, NCTA President and CEO. “NCTA’s programs provide a means for IT professionals to stay in touch with emerging trends, promote technology in the state and utilize shared information to improve business processes.”

Membership fees for the IT Professional category are based on the number of IT employees in North Carolina. For more information on joining NCTA, visit www.nctechnology.org/membership.
