Lori Bush Files for Cary Town Council District A
Posted: 07-22-2009 : CARY, N.C.

CARY, N.C. – Lori Bush announced her candidacy for the District A seat on the Cary Town Council.

“I am pleased and excited to announce my candidacy for Cary Town Council, District A. I have worked for the community I love as a citizen advocate, having served as past president of my homeowners’ association and on a number of boards and commissions in Cary and Wake County. I am ready to use the experience, skills and knowledge I have developed to represent and advocate for the citizens in District A.”

A resident of Cary for the last 12 years, Lori Bush has participated in numerous citizens’ organizations, as well as on the boards of a number of non-profits. Her work as Chair of the Cary Task Force for Issue Advisory Groups provided a framework and process for Cary citizens to meet and form Town-sanctioned groups, expanding, strengthening and improving citizen participation in local government and providing greater visibility of citizen issues to Town Council.

“I’ve enjoyed my volunteer service in the town, and I believe that the best way to continue that service is in elected office”, Lori said, describing her reasons for running. “Over the years, Cary’s past leaders let our town grow without addressing citizens’ concerns about adequate schools and roads, leading to traffic problems, overcrowded schools and a reduction of town services. Cary’s citizens need an approachable representative with a passion for listening and advocating for them on the Cary Town Council, and I look forward to the opportunity to fill that role.”

Lori and her husband Greg have two children in the Wake County public schools, and she is an active participant in her community. She has served on Cary's Planning and Zoning Board for 3 years, led the Cary Task Force for Issue Advisory Groups, and currently serves on Cary's Site Design Focus Group. She was president of the Preston Village Homeowners Association, served as chair of the Wake County Information Technology Advisory Committee, a Trustee on the Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, secretary of the National Cyber Security Alliance and Executive Board member of the National Institute of Urban Search and Rescue. She is currently employed by Cisco Systems, Inc. as a solutions business manager creating technology solutions for education.
