Posted: 11-06-2009 : APEX, N.C.

Apex, NC – The Peak City Film Festival – Family Style has announced Jerry Mathers will be attending the event in Apex the weekend of November 20-22, 2009. An actor for most of his life, he is best known for his role as “The Beaver” in the long-running television show “Leave it to Beaver.” He has also appeared on Broadway and in numerous movies and other television shows over the years. Mathers also had a role in the locally produced motion picture “Will to Power” filmed in the Triangle area several years ago.

“I am personally thrilled to have Jerry with us for the Festival weekend,” said John M. Demers, Executive Producer of the Festival. “I have known him for a number of years and worked with him on several projects. Having Jerry here, with us in Apex, will add a great deal to this family friendly community and to this event.”

Mathers' first role was in a television commercial in 1950 at the age of only two years. His first film appearance came in 1954. The producers of the Festival will present him with a special Lifetime Achievement Award during the opening night festivities the evening of Friday, November 20 2009. “Like many of us, I rem

ember watching Jerry on television when I was a young boy,” continues Demers. “I was very happy when he accepted my offer to attend the Festival and even more excited to have this festival present him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Mathers will receive his award at a ticketed event Friday evening. “There are still a few tickets for the Gala on Friday night, but not many.” Demers states. Film festivals usually have a sponsors gala reception, and something unique to that festival, as well as a world premiere. “That is being done here, with the Jerry Mathers Life Time Achievement Award and the world premiere of the feature film version of The Rusty Bucket Kids Club,” Demers added. “As typical with most festivals, we will have live music, from G.W. Pierce, The Rusty Bucket Band and Sissy Harrington.”
