Rex Healthcare Express Care Wait Meter Now Available on Mobile Phones
Posted: 10-26-2009 : RALEIGH, N.C.
RALEIGH, N.C. – Rex Healthcare announced today the availability of its Rex Express Care urgent-care clinic wait meter on smart phones, providing instant wait time information at patients’ fingertips. Patients can access the wait time information for three Rex facilities without access to a computer or calling a help line.
“We understand our patients are busy. Rex offers many suburban locations to make it as easy as possible for patients to receive care, and the wait meter allows the patient to determine the best location for them,” said Steve Burriss, Senior Vice President of Operations and Ambulatory Care. “Having the wait times available on the mobile phone makes the information even more useful and valuable to patients than ever before.”
Rex Express Care wait meter displays the wait in minutes for Wakefield, Knightdale and Cary facilities and lists the time the information was last updated. It also provides visitors with driving instructions from their current location. The meter is a tool designed to help patients avoid the busiest facilities when possible. People who live between Rex’s facilities, or those wishing to be seen quickly by a caregiver, can simply pick the facility with shortest wait time.
The wait meter can be found online at rexhealth.com. Permanent links to the mobile site versions for smart phones are:

Rex began posting wait times online in January 2009 for its urgent care centers. It aims to reduce congestion at its emergency department and level patient volumes at all facilities. The system also enables Rex officials to monitor wait times and adjust staffing levels if necessary.
