Knowmad Technologies Brings Leading Edge Web Solutions to Clients

CHARLOTTE – Knowmad Technologies President William McKee, Vice President Diona Kidd, and Web Developer Tessa Harmon were featured presenters at the 2009 WebGUI Users Conference, where they shared their expertise with developers, integration specialists, Web solutions providers and software users from around the globe.

McKee conducted multiple workshops for attendees. He discussed the concepts of the Semantic Web as envisioned by Tim Berners-Lee over a decade ago and compared that vision with today’s reality. McKee also presented a session on data forms, which examined ways to control layout, how to build and integrate custom form elements and methods of extracting data via export functions and SQL reports.

Kidd presented “Streamlining WebGUI Rollouts,” which explored best practices, advanced techniques for configuration management, site creation and deployment. And Harmon, who is responsible for building and maintaining custom Web sites and Web site application software for Knowmad, presented a seminar on advanced theming techniques.

In addition to their well-attended workshops, the trio attended various sessions on leading edge technology and applications, including a case study of America.gov public diplomacy Web site for the Department of State.

“It was interesting to learn how the US government uses WebGUI to power over 300 sites in 36 different languages. With the WebGUI Content engine, the government converted its slow and difficult-to-maintain Web sites into user-friendly ones with a simple interface that was easily customized and regularly updated,” says McKee. “We learned a tremendous amount from the other presenters at this conference that has enabled us to offer additional solutions to our clients, including on-site social networking.”
