RALEIGH, N.C. – Rex Healthcare is proud to participate in The V Foundation’s Scientific Symposium and Exhibition on Aug. 15, 2009. The event will include a scientific symposium panel discussion on cancer research and an exposition that will feature area health advances and new medical technology. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The cancer research symposium’s panel of distinguished doctors, including Rex Senior Health Center’s founder and medical director Leroy Darkes, MD, will share developments in cancer research made here in the Triangle region. Discussions will include Rex Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence work, made possible through a $500,000 grant from The V Foundation.

At the Exposition, Rex will showcase its new technology, including a daVinci surgical robot used at the state-of-the-art Rex Surgery Center. The robot improves patient outcomes and increases surgical capabilities of laparoscopic procedures. People may stop by and “test drive” the robot to understand what it is like to perform robotic surgery. Information about the Rex Cancer Center and the Rex Hospital Foundation will also be available at the Expo.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information about The V Foundation, visit jimmyv.org. For more information about Rex Healthcare, visit rexhealth.com. For more information about the Rex Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence, call (919) 784-1261.
