Darron Stover Presents at NCICU Annual Meeting
Posted: 11-03-2009 : RALEIGH, N.C.
RALEIGH, N.C. ― Darron Stover, president of Invest For Change, LLC , an investment management advisory firm focused on socially responsible investing, was a featured presenter at a recent meeting for campus administrative groups sponsored by North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. Stover encouraged the expansion of partnerships between the schools and Stop Hunger Now (www.stophungernow.org), a Raleigh-based international hunger relief agency.
The meeting, held at Elon University on October 20, 2009, served as a platform to discuss ways to further involvement by students and alumni. Stop Hunger Now is seeking to multiply programs such as the University Million Meal Week. During the 2009 campaign, students, faculty and alumni at eight schools packaged and shipped more than 1 million meals to feed children in Haiti, Kenya and Nicaragua.
“World hunger statistics are staggering,” said Stover. “What Stop Hunger Now does makes a significant impact on both the hungry of the world and the people that volunteer.”
Stover, a volunteer with Stop Hunger Now, presented a history of the organization, its meal packaging program and the benefits of school involvement. He also assists the organization with fundraising, advocacy and volunteer management.
“Darron has been a great asset to our organization and has done so much to help fight hunger,” said Rod Brooks, Stop Hunger Now CEO. “It is efforts like his that have allowed us to provide 18 million meals to people in more than 20 countries.”
