Conservative Dan Huffman to run for U.S. Congress
Posted: 02-09-2010 : RALEIGH, N.C.
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Dan Huffman, local businessman has announced his intention to run for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District seat in the upcoming November election. Huffman is a conservative Republican and seeks to face incumbent Congressman Bradley Miller.
“Often I consider how far we’ve come from the ingenuity and determination that made this state great. We honor that history with the motto ‘First in Flight’, saluting the event that tackled and overcame the impossible. You don’t have to look far to see that we have a huge task ahead of us. Neighbors are without work, families are broken and spirits are crushed. I think it may be time to look at the here and now and change that motto to ‘Get it Right”.
“It’s clear to me that career politicians are out of touch with the desires and needs of North Carolinians,” said Huffman in a statement issued today. “I’m not a politician, but my work with local and state businesses as well as being a native North Carolinian has given me the opportunity to see firsthand the day-to-day struggles of the working people who make our state so vibrant.”
“I stand for the issues we should all be considering:,” said Huffman “the Sovereignty of our great Nation, the Sanctity of Life, Upholding the Constitution and Unshackling American Private Enterprise. I would be proud to represent these issues and the great state of North Carolina in Washington.”
Huffman was born and raised in Hickory, NC and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University. Soon after graduation, Huffman became actively involved in the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) and rose to Vice President of the statewide organization. In 2000, he and his wife Cindy founded ONUG Communications, a communications engineering solutions provider, which has created new jobs across North Carolina. Huffman is a devoted husband and father of six.
“The political game played by career politicians has become sordid and unsavory,” said Huffman. “I think North Carolinians and America at large hunger for a change. That’s why I look forward to running a truthful, ethical campaign. It’s what we need here and in Washington.”
