Carolina Brewery Celebrates Fifteen Years in Chapel Hill
Posted: 02-03-2010 : CHAPEL, HILL, N.C.
CHAPEL, HILL, N.C. -- The Triangle’s oldest brewery turns fifteen this month. Carolina Brewery will celebrate this special milestone with a series of events during their anniversary week of February 7-14, culminating with live music at the Local 506 on Saturday February 13. The party will continue throughout 2010 with special monthly promotions, beer dinners, and more.
"We are very excited to celebrate this business milestone,” says Carolina Brewery owner Robert Poitras. “We have many people on our team that have helped us get here including our loyal staff, customers, business associates, families and friends. We enjoy being an integral part of our local communities and the NC Craft Beer Renaissance. The future is bright for our company and I believe you will see many exciting things from Carolina Brewery in the years ahead."
The highlight of the 15th Anniversary week is the tapping of the limited edition Anniversary Ale on Tuesday February 9th followed by a free commemorative logo glass giveaway for the first 500 beer customers on Friday February 12th.
“Brewed in the Belgian Wit Bier style, Anniversary Ale is light and refreshing with minimum hop bitterness,” says Director of Brewing Operations Jon Connolly. “By using traditional European malts and Belgian yeast, this beer has its own unique aromatic qualities. Since much of its flavor and color is derived from the authentic yeast strain, it is filtered gently to prevent the delicate flavors from being stripped away. As is customary in the Wit Bier style, a touch of dried orange, cumin and coriander are added to the boil to enhance the flavor. This beautiful white beer is topped off with a slice of fresh orange before serving.”
The 15th Anniversary show at Local 506 on Saturday February 13th will feature live music from The Mugs (featuring Connolly on lead guitar), Graveyard Fields and Butterflies. The show starts at 9pm and advance tickets are available at both Carolina Brewery Chapel Hill and Local 506.
