Raleigh, NC - Media General’s WNCN-TV/NBC 17 announces the debut of “My Carolina Today,” a new local, lifestyle show airing Monday - Friday. The half hour program kicks off on Monday, March 8th at 11am immediately following NBC’s Today Show.
“My Carolina Today” will highlight various lifestyle segments each day from parenting to cooking to gardening to style, travel and the multitude of things to do in North Carolina. It’s a fresh, unique program in the market place driven by local people and businesses. “There’s nothing else like this on television locally,” says Brad Moses, General Manager of WNCN-TV. “This fun and engaging approach to a local programming will fill a need for viewers and local businesses that are looking for something different.”
“My Carolina Today” is fronted by three familiar faces in the market.
Sharon Delaney is returning to television as Host after a four year break anchoring daily newscasts on NBC 17. The Emmy Award winning broadcaster brings 18 years of experience in front of the camera as well as an entrepreneurial spirit as owner of a consulting company based in Raleigh.
Valonda Calloway joins the team from her most recent post as morning and noon anchor at WRAL. A North Carolina native, Calloway features her enthusiastic personality and hometown insight to “My Carolina Today. She also serves as the advisor for The Voice, the student run newspaper at Fayetteville State University.
Page Crawford adds fun and energy to “My Carolina Today”. Although she grew up in Northern Virginia, knew she would end up in North Carolina by following her father’s footsteps to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A former Peace Corp Volunteer in Honduras, Page got her start in television in New York as a page for NBC and then as a Talent Coordinator before coming to NBC 17 as its Web Reporter.
These three working moms will share their personal experiences, showcase fabulous local treasures, and highlight local businesses that make this area a top place to live. “My Carolina Today will help connect people in rich and meaningful ways,” adds Sharon Delaney. “We live in a great place and I’m excited to share what we find with our audience.”
