Last Call for BJH Foundation for Senior Services Grant Applications
Posted: 02-09-2010 : GREENSBORO, N.C.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- BJH Foundation for Senior Services is still accepting applications for their 2010 grant cycle. Applications must be postmarked by March 1nd or hand delivered to the BJH Foundation office.
Last year, the BJH Foundation for Senior Services awarded 19 grants totaling more than $97,000 to help fund enrichment and training programs for Jewish seniors. “Grants were awarded to meet a variety of physical, mental and social needs of Jewish seniors. This will be our 4th grant cycle and we are pleased to be able to continue this program. Through our grants, we have been able to make a difference in the lives of our recipients.” said David Moff, President.
This year, the Foundation’s goal is to continue to reach a broader market by supporting new and innovative, community-based programs. The focus includes helping the under-served, isolated and not previously served Jewish seniors. In addition, attention will also be placed on developing and implementing methods to identify underserved Jewish seniors including those who are geographically isolated.
The BJH Foundation has defined four major areas of focus for 2010 applicants:
- Healthy aging
- Preservation of Jewish culture, traditions, values and beliefs
- Meal/fellowship/social programs
- Access/choice programs that improve health and well-being
As more Jewish seniors are being identified, additional time and resources are needed to service this population. An example of a program in the access/choice category is Jewish Family Services of Greensboro Jewish Federation. This program provides counseling to clients and their caregivers, health screenings, educational programs and case management.
The BJH Foundation welcomes grant requests from nonprofit organizations that: Are classified as a 501(C)(3) charitable organization as determined by IRS regulations or are affiliated with another tax-exempt organization such as a local government, school or synagogue.
The application deadline for BJH Foundation for Senior Services is March 1, 2010, with the announcement of grant recipients to follow in June. For additional information, visit www.bjhfoundation.org or email wcutler@bjhfoundation.org.
