Singer-Songwriter Carrie Newcomer to Perform in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Renowned singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer will celebrate the release of her latest album, “Before and After,” with a concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, at New Garden Friends Meeting.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations at the door will benefit New Garden Friends School and the Friends Center at Guilford College.
Newcomer has toured with Alison Krauss and has had her song “I Should’ve Known Better” recorded by Nickel Creek. Her music has been widely praised by Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, USA Today and more. “The Geography of Light,” Newcomer’s successful 2008 album, earned her Artist of the Year and Album of the Year from Folk Wax Magazine.
During her visit to Greensboro, Newcomer will spend a day with students at New Garden Friends School and will conduct two workshops at Guilford College. The first, “Transforming Stories,” is scheduled for 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 in King 126. The second, “That’s My Job,” a discussion about how what you love can lead to a vocation, is scheduled for 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25 at Guilford’s Frank Family Science Center at.
