CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Peak 10, the Southeast's leading data center solutions provider, announced it has entered into a marketing and services agreement with the Charlotte Checkers, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Rangers and their affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Checkers join other sports and entertainment organizations such as the Outback Bowl, Durham Bulls, ATP Tour and the Jacksonville Jaguars in trusting their critical information technology infrastructure with Peak 10.
Peak 10 will provide a back-up and data storage solution for the Checkers' official team Website (www.gocheckers.com) out of its Charlotte, N.C. data center. The Website provides Checkers' fans with instant access to team news, player profiles, game details, statistics and ticket information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Checkers open their 12th season on the road in Greenville, S.C. October 22, 2004 versus the Greenville Grrrowl. They return home October 30, 2004 versus the Columbia Inferno.
"With Internet usage now an important part of every day life, technology infrastructure, specifically Websites have become a key communication vehicle between sports franchises, leagues and their fans," said Pat O'Brien, vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Charlotte. "Our facility and engineering and support teams company-wide are able to ensure that these important communication vehicles are always available and providing loyal fans with up-to-date information."
In May Peak 10 announced it was providing the Durham Bulls, the AAA affiliate of Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Devil Rays, infrastructure hosting and technical expertise for its AudienceView online ticket-purchasing application. The company also has a longstanding managed hosting relationship with the Gator Bowl.
"We chose Peak 10 because they understand the unique needs of our organization and the necessity that our Website be accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week," said Erik Dellenback, director of promotions for the Gator Bowl. "We are impressed with their track record, customer service and ability to handle the large spikes in traffic that are common in our particular industry."
